X’s Help Center describes @bot as a bridge from a post or reply to the user’s Grok Bot. The dedicated Grok Bot guide adds the important handoff detail: X receives a short confirmation, while work and results appear in the main Bot’s app conversation. Tagged requests start work automatically and consume Grok Bot usage. A public acknowledgment therefore establishes receipt of a task, without establishing its completion.
The guide, updated October 7, says a request did not reach the Bot if @bot gives no reply. Documented causes include unsupported account regions, exhausted weekly usage, also tagging @grok, and a video or GIF in the relevant posts. Availability follows the country recorded on the X account. The guide excludes Australia, the UK, the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Neither source establishes a feature-launch date, so this is analysis of existing documentation.
Editorial take: Social posting makes delegation convenient, but it also makes a missing handoff easy to overlook. For anything time-sensitive, check for the acknowledgment and then follow the work in the app. Before repeating a request, inspect whether a task already exists. A useful shortcut should leave a clear trail from the original instruction to an observable result.
