Anthropic introduced Claude Tag on June 23 as an agent teammates can call into Slack conversations. The launch describes a shared Claude within a channel, so another person can continue the discussion and steer the work. It can use approved tools, retain relevant context and pursue tasks asynchronously, including work scheduled for later.

The launch offered beta access to Team and Enterprise customers. It also described optional ambient behavior, under which Claude follows up without waiting for every mention, and administrator controls for tool access and spend. These are the foundations of the product; teams adopting it now should use current setup documentation rather than rely on the launch’s migration timetable.

Editorial take: Shared context is valuable when work outlives the person who first requested it. A support investigation or project follow-up should be understandable to the next teammate who opens the thread. The trade-off is that teams need deliberate channel boundaries and clear expectations for when the agent should speak on its own.
